Munjya

Munjya (2024) Hindi movie review :- Maddock Films and it’s crazy universe is something worth watching on big screen. I loved Stree and then Bediya and now Munjya. I didn’t like “Roohi” which was a snore feast to say the least. It is well made small budget horror comedy. The CGI is well done like in Bediya. The CGI character Munjya looks somewhat like elder brother of Groot of Guardians of the Galaxy. However, Groot was loveable and Munjya is menacing and just wants to marry some Muni, who was seven years elder to him while he was alive. Once the menacing Munjya sets his eyes on Sharvari’s character Bella he just forgets Muni and wants to marry Bella. It is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar who seems to be well know for his Marathi movies. Hence, some Marathi lines creep into the movie. The background of Konkan, Maharashtra is breath taking. The back ground score is creepily loud enough. The cast of Munjya delivers commendable performance, be it Mona Singh playing Bittu’s mother. Also Bittu’s grandmother. Abhay Verma shines as Bittu, it is not easy task to pretend an imaginary character who is brought to life later by CGI.
Best part :- The scene after end credit that connects this movie with Bediya Universe.
The story is connected to Indian floklore which makes it an interesting premise.
“Tenu Khabhar Nahi” happens to be a soulful and melodious song of the movie.
Then the last but not least is mesmerising dance performance of Sharvari post credit.
Not so good part :- This one lacks in scare factor as it is stuck between horror-comedy. Though Munjya is CGI character and well made, but doesn’t send enough chills down audience spine.
To watch or not :- Definitely worth watching!
Rating:- 8/10.
