Koode (2018) Malayalam Movie Review

There is no doubt that the director Anjali Menon is a talented story teller who creates magic on screen. This is the third movie of this director after Usthad Hotel which was the movie that made me to start watching Malayalam movies and then Bangalore Days. The best thing about “Koode” is the backdrop of picturesque Nilgiris in which it is completely shot. The other best thing is the director brings out the best out of Prithviraj and Parvathy. Also it is nice come back for Nazriya post marriage. This is perhaps the best brother-sister bonding movie I have seen so far. Joshua and Jenny linger in your mind long after the movie is over. I was surprised to know that this movie is a remake of Marathi movie “Happy Journey”. Maybe, I would like to see it. However, I feel this one could be better. There are many subtle, but heart warming moments in this movie. Also the Van becomes a character in this movie. Koode did best for me to fall in love with it. I ended up watching it twice. Technically the movie is well made. Once again, I feel that it would be better if I learn to understand Malayalam language as I have been watching movies with English subtitles. My rating is 4/5. Highly recommended.
