Finally, got to see the movie.Somehow, had avoided it for so long. The best part of the movie is Ranbir playing Sanjay Dutt and he goes under the skin of the character literally. Perhaps, his best act todate. However, I felt there could have been a better choice than Paresh Rawal playing Sanjay Dutt’s father Sunil Dutt. It is just my thought. Manisha Koirala as Sanju’s mother was good and though her role was brief it was touchy. Sonam Kapoor Di…a Mirza and Anushka Sharma’s roles are short, but interesting.
Vicky Kaushal as Sanju’s best friend leaves a mark. Not sure how far this character was true in Sanjay Dutt’s life? Basically the bio pic picks some crucial chapters from Sanjay Dutt’s life. It is about a man who made too many bad choices. Also there seems to be some justification for the same. It works as a movie.
Also there is a thin life between reel life and real life. Especially, when Munna Bhai M.B.B.S scenes comes up.Ranbir almost becomes Sanju and one can’t differentiate. Rajkumar Hirani has done a good job with this biopic. It is nice that all his movies have struck a chord with audience and have done well.
Agreed, many pages from the actor’s life is missing here. But nevertheless, this biopic makes an interesting one time watch. My rating is 4/5.
