This movie makes one feel nostalgic and takes back in time to remember ones childhood days. It is not many movies in which heroine has an equal role in the script, the best thing is this one does. The first 5-6 minutes of the movie sets the tone of the movie. It is about Ram (Vijay Sethupathi), a travel photographer. It is the diversion that takes him to his native, Tanjore. It brings back his memories of his childhood days. He stops by the school where he had studied 22 years back, he calls his friend who is part of a dormant WhatsApp group, and they all decide to have a reunion. And that is where he meets Janaki, once again, after a gap of 22 years.

The first half is where the beautiful teenage love story is narrated and the separation. The wonderful way in which legend Illayaraja’s songs have been used in the movie to represent the love story between Ram and Janaki. Shanmuga Sundaram’s cinematography shows night lit Chennai beautifully.

The casting is excellent, the actors who play the younger Ram and Janu — Adithya Bhaskar and Gouri Kishan are equally good as Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha. Prem Kumar’s wonderful onscreen storytelling does creates magic. My rating is 4/5. Highly recommended.
