What should be appreciated is the effort taken in picturing a well written story so well to the screen. The viewer gets a feeling that there should a village called “Rangasthalam”, whereas, in reality it is a fictionalized village. Technically, the movie is brilliant, thanks to all the efforts of the technical team. Though I have liked previous movies written and directed by Sukumar, but I feel this one is his best to date. Also it needs courage to show one of the mainstream superstars Ram Charan with hearing impairment, it was a risk which paid off because everything worked so wonderfully for the movie.

Also the movie is wonderfully set in the 1980’s, one gets the feel of that as well while watching the movie. This is first movie in which I genuinely liked Ram Charan for his brilliant performance. He breathed life into the character and became the character “Chitti Babu”. Similary, Samatha became the character of village girl whom Chitti Babu falls in love with. Her mannerisms, dialogue delivery works wonders on screen to give nice support to Ram Charan.

Likewise, each and every character fits into the movie say “Jagapathi Babu” as the village chairman or Aadhi as Chitti Babu (Ram Charan’s brother). Every single character including common villagers look real in the movie. Though performance of Prakash Raj’s performance is good, but he is becoming predictable playing similar kind of bad guy wearing a good guy’s mask back to back in Telugu movies. He is a wonderful actor no doubt about it, but he needs to do contrasting roles every now and then so that he is not type cast in movies.

The other thing that seems out of place is the item song of Pooja Hegde. Now, it has become an habit rather to include one item song in every single Telugu mainstream commercial movies. Also considering this is the first rural setting movie which Sukumar has ventured, it should be well appreciated that Sukumar and his technical team have done a wonderful work. At least a couple of songs the title track “Rangasthalam” and “Rangamma Mangamma” stand out as instant chart busters. Even the wonderful background score blends so well into the story.

Well, it looks like a well written novel which has been adapted beautifully on screen. So, no doubt Sukumar is a wonderful story teller. I liked the movie so well that I ended up watching it again. I am sure many of you should have watched it again, making it a big blockbuster in the heels of Baahubali.
