Fly Away Home (1996) Movie Review

FLY-AWAY-HOME_1024

It’s a wonderful story about a young motherless girl (Amy) who rescues some wild goose eggs and basically becomes their mother. The goslings grow into young adult birds ready to fly south. Since they never had parents, so they haven’t learned to fly.

The girl’s dad thinks he can teach them to fly by following him in his glider plane. But the geese only follow his young daughter Amy wherever she goes. Now, she has to learn flying so that she can take the birds to south.

The best thing about this movie other than the novel plot, is its cinematography, which is like a living painting. It is poetic, emotional roller coaster ride, the bond between a father and his daughter. And above all the wonderful bond between the girl and the geese who think her as their mother.

All in all, a very touching movie. A heart warming family story. This one is also part of my all time best movies, so part of my collection.
