Aramm (2017): is a tamil movie well directed by Gopi Nainar. Though it becomes preachy, it does have its moments. Especially Nayanthara who plays the role of IAS officer so well. A little girl who is about to turn 5 in a day falls into a borewell, and whose rescue becomes the core of the plot. However, it is the presentation that makes this one somewhat different. Nayanthara is the star or hero of the movie. This has happened more than once in real life as well. People dig borewells seeking water, but don’t cover it up when they don’t find it. Due to their negligence, someone else usually innocents have to pay. That’s what a local councillor does in this movie. We are proud of rocket launching, bringing bullet train to India, many things like this. But we are way back when it comes to rescue a small child from a deep borewell. Even many people find it hard to get basic requirements like drinking water. Gopi drives home this message real hard. My rating is 3.5/5.
