Aruvi (2017) is a tamil movie and I didn’t know what to expect when I started watching this one. Two debutants strike big time with this movie. One is the director : Arun Prabhu Purushothaman who has chosen such a sensitive subject and presented it so well. And the other is the debutant actress Aditi Balan who seems to be born to play this role. Her performance is so subtle, yet so hard hitting that you need a tissue box or two towards the climax of the movie. I haven’t seen such a debut for a long time now. Arun had chosen Aditi Balan after auditioning more than 500 girls. Aruvi is a complex character multi layered like an onion. So, no doubt so much effort has gone in searching the right girl to play this character. I felt that studio portions were bit stretched, but those are the entertaining portions of this black comedy. Technically the movie is too good with wonderful cinematography and music. Even the editing is done good. This one is surely one of the best movies of 2017. A must watch! My rating is 4.5/5. The only thing I felt was that the climax was more cinematic.
