When I was a kid I had become a member of my local library hoping to borrow books and read them in leisure at home. However, only after becoming a member did I realize that the best books are only for reference and not to be taken outside the library premises. Well, I had spent hours together every weekend going through one story book after another. I had loved many stories as a kid. My favourite one and the story I loved most was Heidi, which was written in the year 1881. Heidi is a novel set in the Swiss Alps. It is about a little girl of 5 years who is sent to live with her uncle.

The story was so enchanting that I was magically transported to the world of Heidi when I started reading the book. It was only after this book did I realize that stories are immortal as they live for ever, making the writer immortal as well. It was more than 100 years later I was reading this mesmerising story of a girl whom no would hate, but would love. That is the magic of Heidi.
Even after many years have passed since I read this book, Heidi has always dwelled in my heart. The book was written by Mrs.Johanna Spyri, who was a native Swiss, the book was originally written in German first. Later, it was translated into English and many other languages. I would like to read this book once again sometime and relive my childhood days through this wonderful story.
Heidi is an all time favorite and is the first book that made me cry. Beautiful memories, thanks for reviving them.
